How does the tax advantage work?

Your donation is deducted from your gross pay before tax is calculated, so you don't pay any tax on the donation. It's the only way to automatically receive the full tax saving on charitable gifts, so is the most cost effective way to give, especially for higher rate tax payers. Use the box across to calculate how much a donation would cost you.

Sheffield Hallam and the Hallam Fund

Sheffield Hallam University is an exempt charity and in 2016 the Hallam Fund was established.

The Hallam Fund provides additional and much needed support to our student and research community so they can overcome barriers, access the best opportunities and take on some of society's greatest issues.

Alumni, staff and supporters of the University donate to the Hallam Fund's three fundamental causes

  • Support for students from disadvantaged and under-represented backgrounds, particularly those leaving foster care, students who have carer responsibilities, and students who face estrangement because of their family or financial situations
  • Opportunity bursaries which ensure all students can access career-enhancing and inspiring opportunities regardless of their background and financial situation
  • Transformational research grants to ensure our researchers tackle some of the biggest challenges that we face across society today

All donations made to the Hallam Fund are restricted and go directly to the above cause you select.

Who are Hands On Payroll Giving?
