These three organisations responded to nearly 5million people in distress last year. All three charities operate 24 hour a day help lines which are a Lifeline to those calling for support. • Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) provides 24-hour lifeboats and seasonal lifeguards dedicated to saving lives at sea.

• Samaritans provides confidential emotional support 24/7 to those experiencing despair, distress or suicidal feelings.
